
Mrs. Rebecca Cheney
Mrs. Rebecca Cheney is beginning her eighth year of teaching music, and is excited to be returning for her fifth year with Mokena Public Schools. Mrs. Cheney grew up in the nearby town of LaGrange, IL. She attended Illinois WesleyanUniversity and graduated in 2005 with her Bachelor of Music Education. Previous to working in Mokena, Mrs. Cheney taught in the far north suburbs of Chicago. Mrs. Cheney currently teaches the Symphonic Band, the 7th and 8th Grade Singing Meteors, and 6th grade general music classes. In addition to her work in Mokena, Mrs. Cheney performs French horn with the Encore Concert Band and was a founding member of the Shout Section Big Band. When not teaching or performing, Mrs. Cheney enjoys reading, traveling, playing with her new puppy, and spending time with family and friends.

Mrs. Karen Bussean
Mrs. Karen Bussean is beginning her seventh year with the Mokena Public Schools. Prior to her time at Mokena, she taught privately for twenty-two years. Mrs. Bussean grew up in New Lenox and attended Lincoln-Way Central High School continuing on to the University of Illinois, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education in 1990. Mrs. Bussean currently teaches Cadet Band, Symphonic Band and does Sectionals for all students involved in the Beginning, Cadet, Concert and Symphonic Bands. She is an avid supporter of area music programs and volunteers her time with the Lincoln-Way Central Music Boosters and the Lincoln-Way Marching Band. In her free time, she is involved with the many activities of her five children.
