The Mokena Music Department will be traveling trip to Disneyworld and Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida from January 12 - 16, 2018. Please check this page often for updates.

The Orlando Trip is fast-approaching. Currently, everyone is up to date on their trip installments. We have one installment remaining, due on Friday, December 15.
Please log into your Charms account at www.charmsoffice.com to see what your final balance is. The final total cost for the trip is $1410. If you have made the suggested payment amounts so far, that means the final installment will be $335. The $10 increase is because I opted to go with food vouchers for the students rather than $25 gift cards. With the high cost of food at Disney, I felt this was a more cost-effective solution and would insure that students were getting enough food to eat and not spending their gift cards on souvenirs. This will save families money in the long run on food.
While you are in Charms checking your trip balance, please check to see if your student has any IBA funds that can be applied to the trip. Many of you have money in your accounts that can offset the final trip balance. Please fill out an IBA transfer request if you would like to apply your IBA funds to the trip. The form can be found on our department website.

Also, we know our trip performance schedule. Students will be performing at Disney Springs on the Marketplace Stage on Saturday, January 13. Band will perform at 12:15 and the Choir will perform at 2:45.
We will Facebook Live the peformances (thank you chaperones!). Please make sure you join our Facebook Group - Mokena Meteor Music Department - before we leave!

The Mokena Music Department is planning a trip to Orlando, Florida in early 2018. Attached you will find a copy of the sample itinerary and a deposit form. The students participating in the trip will depart Mokena Junior High School near the end of the school day on Friday, January 12 and return late the evening of Tuesday, January 16, 2018. They will miss one full day of school.
If your child plans to attend this trip, please complete the attached deposit form and include your $100 payment (checks made payable to the Mokena Music Boosters) to Mrs. Bussean, Mr. Makropoulos or Mrs. Cheney by August 31. The remaining payments will be split into four: September 15 ($325), October 15 ($325), November 15 ($325) and December 15 (remaining balance).
Students will have the opportunity to participate in two more IBA fundraisers this Fall to help offset the cost of the trip. For families new to the MJH Music Department: IBA fundraisers are opportunities in which students can choose to participate to raise money for their own Mokena Music account. Money raised through IBA fundraisers can be used to pay for Mokena Music Department expenses, and therefore can be used for the Florida trip.
The band and choir students attending this trip will be performing at a Disney park, participating in workshops through the Disney Performing Arts Youth Programs, and will be experiencing many musical performances.
